It is important to understand that a church wedding is a sacred worship service of the Christian faith. It is for those who desire to live as part of the Body of Christ. To be married in the church means that you declare, as a couple, that you seek to live your married lives in the presence of God through Jesus Christ.
The service of Christian marriage is a Christian worship service. Reminders of the faith traditions important to the members of Trinity United Methodist Church will remain in the sanctuary during the wedding ceremony, including the baptismal font, the pulpit, and the Lord’s Table. Because the wedding services of the United Methodist Church are the product of over 2,000 years of Christian experience, requests to change the wording of these services or to use an alternative form of worship may be honored only after study & serious deliberation with the pastor.
